“No, no! The adventures first, explanations take such a dreadful time.”

Today's emergency shutdown of the DC metro offered me a rare opportunity to take some time to myself at home, and naturally I grabbed my camera and went exploring in Silver Spring. The weather was perfect and it seemed that many others had the same idea, and although I have walked throughout this city hundreds of times, I learned awhile ago that there is always so much to discover here.
I love the industrial steampunk theme of Ellsworth Place (which replaced City Place Mall) and look forward to being an even more enthusiastic patron when Michael's opens soon. They are in the process of building out the Dave & Buster's on the top floor, so I have some time to work on my mad skeeball skills.
Checking out Pyramid Atlantic is still high on my to-do list, and I love passing by it on the way to Urban Butcher. The warmer weather here serves as an announcement throughout the city that Urban Butcher's iconic garage doors will be open for sidewalk happy hours (and pitchers of their amazing lavender margaritas).
I was also a bit late to discover the delicious crepes at Fenton Cafe, but that place has seriously changed my life. When the new library opened, I wandered through the area and stumbled across Fenton Cafe and got my nutella fix while sipping on a latte made with Illy coffee. This place is seriously a gem in the downtown area.
Although I do not have a photo of Urban Winery just yet, it is a wonderful addition to Bonifant Street. The Silver Spring White is definitely my favorite, but I'm always eager to try their new wines when I visit. I love taking friends and family there because it is such a neat concept for a winery, and the owners and staff are super friendly. Next time I'm out there, I need to check out Mandalay Restaurant - I have a couple of friends who have been raving about it.
Sushi Jin is hands down one of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to in my entire life. I'm pretty sure I have dreamt about their sushi burrito. This place is truly fantastic, as is All Set. There are few things I love more than happy hour oysters and prosecco. The staff is also super chill here and hosted a game of Cards Against Humanity during Snowmageddon of 2016. They were one of the few places in the area that was open pretty much throughout the storm's entirety.
The most dangerous thing about Fenwick Beer & Wine aside from its amazing collection of things I like to drink is its super convenient location by the metro. I have been a diehard fan since it first opened several years ago, and the owners and staff are so friendly and helpful. If you assumed that I popped in on the way back from today's excursion for some libations (that I am enjoying as I write this post), you assumed correctly.
Until the next adventure...
